Best Futures Prop Firms (August 2026): Ranked by Rules, Not Hype
Topstep is the best futures prop firm as of August 18, 2026. It pays instantly (9-second average via Aeropay), runs a genuine sim-to-live path through its own NFA-registered brokerage, and publishes its own pass rates, which almost nobody else does. Lucid Trading posts the highest PropRank Survivability Score (90/100), and My Funded Futures owns daily payouts. All nine firms below are ranked on cited rules, not affiliate spend.
What is the best futures prop firm in August 2026?
Topstep, and not because it has the highest Survivability Score on this page — it doesn't. It wins on the things a score can't fully capture: fifteen years of operation, the fastest verified payout mechanism in the industry, and a real route from simulated funding to a live brokerage account. Here is the full field, ranked.
| Rank | Firm | Survivability Score | 50K effective price | Drawdown type | First payout | Split | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Topstep | 86/100 | $49/mo standing | EOD trailing, both stages | 3–5 winning days; 9-sec disbursement | 90/10 | Best overall |
| 2 | Lucid Trading | 90/100 | ~$90 one-time (code VAULT) | EOD trailing, both stages | 5 profitable days | 90/10 | Highest survivability |
| 3 | My Funded Futures | 86/100 | ~$79/mo (50% codes) | EOD eval / intraday funded | 24h after first funded trade | 90/10 (Rapid) | Daily payouts |
| 4 | Tradeify | 84/100 | ~$87 one-time (code AUG) | EOD trailing, both stages | 5 profitable days per cycle | 90/10 | One-time-fee value |
| 5 | TradeDay | 86/100 | $79/mo (code TDNEW) | EOD eval / intraday funded sim | Day one, any positive balance | 50/50 to $4K net, then 80/20 | Sim-to-live automation |
| 6 | Take Profit Trader | 78/100 | $85/mo (code 50AND3) | EOD eval / intraday funded (PRO) | Day one | 80/20 PRO; 90/10 PRO+ | Same-day payout access |
| 7 | Alpha Futures | 82/100 | ~$71–$83/mo (40% codes) | EOD trailing, both stages | 5 winning days ($200+) | 90/10 from the start | EOD rules on a subscription |
| 8 | Apex Trader Funding | 72/100 | ~$55 one-time (90% code) | EOD trailing, both stages | 5 qualifying days; 5–11 business day processing | 100% (6-payout cap) | Cheap multi-account scaling |
| 9 | Elite Trader Funding | 56/100 | ~$41 first month, $207/mo renewal | Intraday trailing eval | 8 active trade days | 100% sim ($25K lifetime cap) | Cheap first month only |
PropRank may earn a commission if you use a code on this page. That never changes a score.
Two things about those prices. First, list prices are mostly fiction: as of August 2026, Apex runs 80–90% codes essentially year-round, Elite Trader Funding runs 80% off the first month all year, and My Funded Futures, Take Profit Trader, Tradeify, Alpha Futures, and Lucid all have evergreen 33–50% partner codes. TradeDay is the least discount-dependent of the group (typical realized discount 20–30%), and Topstep has simply repriced its 50K to a $49/mo standing price against a strikethrough anchor, with no public promo code live as of mid-August. Second, the rank order is not a straight sort of the Survivability Score. The score measures whether the rules let your account survive; the ranking also weighs operating history, payout verification, and whether the live path is real.
How does each firm actually hold up?
Each firm below gets the verdict, the one number that matters most, and the caveat its marketing leaves out.
1. Topstep — best overall
Topstep has been running trader evaluations since 2012, its fifteenth year of operation, which makes it the oldest firm on this list by a wide margin. The number that matters: instant payouts through Aeropay average 9 seconds, with a self-reported 99.26% approval rate (topstep.com/instant-payouts). It is also one of the only firms that publishes its own funnel: 16.8% of 2025 Trading Combines were completed, and 0.71% of Express Funded traders advanced to Live Funded accounts at Topstep Brokerage LLC, NFA ID 0567079 (topstep.com). The caveats are real. Trustpilot sits around 3.6, the lowest of the majors, and the Standard-versus-Consistency payout paths take genuine reading before you buy. A $149 activation fee lands when you pass.
Best for: traders who want the most proven operator and the fastest payout disbursement in the industry.
2. Lucid Trading — highest Survivability Score (90/100)
Lucid scores 90/100, the highest we track, because it removed most of the ways firms quietly kill accounts: EOD-locked trailing drawdown on both stages, $0 activation, $90 resets, and 90/10 from the first dollar. The number that matters: $506M+ paid across 307,000+ payouts as of July 28, 2026, with $463M independently verified by MondoTraders — the largest verified payout volume in futures prop, roughly double Tradeify. The caveat: the firm launched in 2025, so there is no track record through a real stress event, and its homepage still advertises a stale 4.8 Trustpilot against the actual 4.5 (5,443 reviews, checked August 18, 2026). Flex accounts also move to live after 5 payouts whether you asked or not.
Best for: traders who want the most survivable ruleset and accept a young firm.
3. My Funded Futures — best for daily payouts
The Rapid plan is the cleanest daily-payout structure of the nine: a payout request every 24 hours starting after your first funded trade, $0 activation, 90/10, no caps above the $500 minimum. Trustpilot shows 4.9 across roughly 20,200 reviews (search snapshot, August 18, 2026), the best rating in the group. Two caveats. The funded stage switches to an intraday trailing drawdown from the equity high-water mark, meaningfully harsher than the EOD eval, and a $2,100 buffer applies before payouts. And the firm publishes no cumulative payout total: PropScorer independently verified $126M across 56,937 payouts as of July 22, 2026, while another tracker claims $180M. We flag the conflict rather than pick a number.
Best for: funded traders who want a payout window every 24 hours.
4. Tradeify — best one-time-fee value
Tradeify dropped subscriptions entirely in its 3.0 restructure (March–April 2026): a Growth 50K costs $145 once, about $87 with the standing 40% code, with no activation fee and EOD trailing drawdown on both stages. The number that matters: tradeify.co claims $250M+ in verified payouts and 0% payout denials as of August 18, 2026. The caveat: the funded Growth account carries a 35% consistency rule, the single biggest deduction in its 84/100 score, and you need a $53,000 minimum balance before a payout qualifies — roughly $3,000 of buffer above start, with per-payout caps that scale from $1,500 to $3,000.
Best for: traders who want one payment, no monthly clock, and EOD drawdown everywhere.
5. TradeDay — best sim-to-live automation
TradeDay is the only firm here with a hard, automatic trigger to live capital: hit $10,000 gross profit on the Funded Sim and an overnight review moves you to Funded Live at 90/10. Day-one payouts from any positive balance, no buffer, and the lowest discount dependence in the group. Its published pass rate was 36% for January–June 2026 (tradeday.com). The caveat sits in the split: Quick Pay Funded Sim pays 50/50 below $4,000 net profit before improving to 80/20, the worst early economics of the nine. The funded-sim drawdown also trails intraday, per the firm's help center.
Best for: traders whose actual goal is a live account, not a sim salary.
6. Take Profit Trader — best same-day payout access
TPT gives funded PRO traders withdrawals from day one, daily, with no caps and no minimum days, and on August 17, 2026 it cut the eval minimum from 5 days to 3. It also publishes a real pass rate: 36.22% of Trading Tests passed in 2025 (takeprofittrader.com). Two caveats, both material. The PRO account's trailing drawdown is intraday and includes unrealized gains — the number-one complaint in its reviews — and the $2,000 buffer means you withdraw only above $52,000, at 80/20 until the live PRO+ tier bumps you to 90/10. Payouts of $250 or less eat a $50 fee.
Best for: funded traders who want money out the same day they earn it.
7. Alpha Futures — the EOD subscription with 90/10 from the start
Alpha runs EOD trailing drawdown on both stages and pays 90/10 from the first payout, no tiered-split games. A Zero 50K lists at $139/mo and runs roughly $71–$83 with standing 40% codes; activation is $0. Trustpilot: 4.5 across 5,729 reviews, and the firm reports $70M in performance fees paid (alpha-futures.com, August 18, 2026). The caveat is recent and operational: Alpha lost NinjaTrader, Tradovate, and TradingView on July 12, 2026 when it and NinjaTrader parted ways, migrating those accounts to its in-house AlphaTrader. The funded Zero account also carries a 40% consistency rule and a $1,500-per-request payout cap.
Best for: subscription traders who want EOD rules and a full 90/10 immediately.
8. Apex Trader Funding — best for cheap accounts in volume
Apex sells its 50K EOD eval for $550 list, but the standing 90% codes make the real price about $55, and running many accounts at once is the entire pitch. Payouts are 100% of approved amounts, within limits — and the limits arrive together: a hard cap of 6 payouts per funded account, after which the account closes; a lifetime Safety Net buffer requiring a $52,600 balance before any request; and 5–11 business days of payout processing, the slowest of the nine. Apex self-reports over $700M paid since 2022, but its site blocks verification fetches, so we list that figure as unverified. How it stacks up against the leader is its own article: Topstep vs Apex.
Best for: experienced traders scaling cheap evaluation attempts across multiple accounts.
9. Elite Trader Funding — the weakest of the nine
ETF scores 56/100, the lowest we track, and the structure explains it. The eval uses intraday "live" trailing drawdown, the harshest type; the first payout takes 8 Active Trade Days; and sim payouts stop permanently at a $25,000 lifetime cap per trader across all sim accounts (elitetraderfunding.app). The 80%-off first month (~$41) reads cheap until the $207/mo renewal and the $87/mo-or-$177 activation land. Trustpilot: 3.8 with 24% one-star reviews (1,144 reviews, August 18, 2026). The firm has paid $13M+ to 13,000+ funded traders since 2022, which is real but small next to the field.
Best for: traders testing a strategy on a cheap first month who accept the lifetime cap.
Every advertised $50K account is really a $2,000 account
The max drawdown is the account: a $50K account with a $2,000 trailing drawdown is a $2,000 account with $50,000 of buying power. This is the single most useful reframe in prop trading, and it applies to every firm on this page identically.
| Firm | Advertised size | Max drawdown (real risk capital) | Real size as % of advertised |
|---|---|---|---|
| Topstep | $50,000 | $2,000 | 4.0% |
| Lucid Trading | $50,000 | $2,000 | 4.0% |
| My Funded Futures | $50,000 | $2,000 | 4.0% |
| Tradeify | $50,000 | $2,000 | 4.0% |
| TradeDay | $50,000 | $2,000 | 4.0% |
| Take Profit Trader | $50,000 | $2,000 | 4.0% |
| Alpha Futures | $50,000 | $2,000 | 4.0% |
| Apex Trader Funding | $50,000 | $2,000 | 4.0% |
| Elite Trader Funding | $50,000 | $2,000 | 4.0% |
Read that table again. All nine firms sell the same $2,000 of risk capital at different prices with different rules. The account size on the label sets your margin and position limits, nothing else. Which means the real product differences live in two places: how the drawdown trails (end-of-day locked versus intraday, unpacked in our trailing drawdown explainer) and how fast you can get money out. We wrote up the full reframe at Real Account Size; once you see it, firm marketing never reads the same way.
Who has actually paid traders, and how much of it is verified?
Cumulative payout claims range from $10M to $1.4B, but most of them are firm-published marketing numbers, not audited figures — so we log each claim with its date, its source, and whether anyone independent has checked it.
| Firm | Cumulative payout claim | As of | Verification status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Topstep | $1.4B+ all time | Aug 18, 2026 | Self-reported; claim confirmed on topstep.com via direct fetch |
| Lucid Trading | $506M+ across 307,000+ payouts | Jul 28, 2026 | Third-party reported; $463M independently verified by MondoTraders |
| Apex Trader Funding | "$700M+" self-report; third parties cite $718M–$803M | Jun 2026 | Unverified; site returns 403 to fetchers, on-page figure unconfirmable |
| Tradeify | $250M+ "verified payouts," 0% denials claimed | Aug 18, 2026 | Self-reported; confirmed on tradeify.co via direct fetch |
| My Funded Futures | No homepage total; $126M across 56,937 payouts | Jul 22, 2026 | Independently verified by PropScorer; a second tracker claims $180M — conflicting |
| Alpha Futures | $70M performance fees paid | Aug 18, 2026 | Self-reported; confirmed on alpha-futures.com via direct fetch |
| Elite Trader Funding | $13M+ to 13,000+ funded traders since 2022 | Aug 18, 2026 | Self-reported; confirmed on elitetraderfunding.app/payouts via direct fetch |
| TradeDay | $10M+ verified payouts, with individual certificates | Aug 18, 2026 | Self-reported; confirmed on tradeday.com via direct fetch |
| Take Profit Trader | Not published | Aug 18, 2026 | Confirmed absent via direct fetch; the firm publishes its pass rate instead |
Notice what the honest column shows: only Lucid and My Funded Futures have meaningful independent verification of their totals, and the two most aggressive discounters (Apex, ETF) sit at opposite extremes of scale. Take Profit Trader publishing a pass rate instead of a payout total is, frankly, the more useful disclosure. For payout speed specifically — a different question from cumulative volume — see the fastest payout prop firms.
Is any of this real money?
The payouts are real; the accounts mostly are not. Nearly every "funded" account on this page is a simulated account, and payouts on sim-funded accounts are paid by the firm out of its own revenue, not by market counterparties. That is not a scandal, it is the business model — but you should price it accordingly, because a firm that stops being solvent stops paying, whatever your sim balance says. The live paths are the exception, and they are narrow: Topstep's Live Funded call-up took 0.71% of Express Funded traders in 2025; Take Profit Trader's PRO+ is a live direct-to-exchange account with automatic promotion since March 2026; TradeDay's $10K trigger, Lucid's LucidLive, Alpha Prime, MFF's Blue Row Capital route, Apex Live (invitation-only), and ETF's Live Elite round out the field. Regulation is also moving: the CFTC opened a public consultation on futures-prop oversight with comments closing November 30, 2026, and NFA Notice I-26-12 makes affiliate disclosures mandatory on December 1, 2026. PropRank already discloses; being early costs nothing.
How we rank: the PropRank Survivability Score
The Survivability Score (v1.0, 0–100) measures one thing: whether a firm's rules let a competent trader survive long enough to get paid. Five components sum to 100 — drawdown mechanics (30 points, where EOD-locked trailing scores highest and intraday trailing lowest), drawdown-to-profit-target ratio (20 points, identical across all nine 50K accounts at $2,000 against a $3,000 target), payout access (20 points, covering time to first payout, caps, and buffers), rule friction (15 points, mostly consistency rules), and cost structure (15 points, covering effective entry, activation, resets, and renewals). That is why Lucid tops the score at 90 while Elite Trader Funding sits at 56: same drawdown ratio, completely different odds of ever seeing a payout. It is also why the score and the ranking diverge at the top — Topstep's 86 plus fifteen years of receipts beats a 90 from a firm founded in 2025. The full component math for every firm is published in the Survivability Score methodology.
The blunt recommendation
Most traders should buy Topstep and read the payout-path rules twice before funding. If you optimize for something specific, the answers are below, caveats included, because a verdict without the caveat is an ad.
Best overall futures prop firm: Topstep. Instant 9-second average payouts, a genuine sim-to-live path, fifteen years operating, and it publishes its own pass rates. The flags: a ~3.6 Trustpilot, lowest of the majors, and consistency rules that take reading.
Highest Survivability Score: Lucid Trading, 90/100. EOD-lock everywhere, cheap resets, $0 activation. The honest youth flag: launched 2025, and its homepage still shows a stale 4.8 Trustpilot against the real 4.5.
Best for daily payouts: My Funded Futures Rapid. A 24-hour payout cycle and $0 activation. Watch the intraday funded drawdown.
Best one-time-fee value: Tradeify. No subscription, EOD everywhere, $250M+ claimed verified payouts. Watch the 35% funded consistency rule.
Best sim-to-live automation: TradeDay. $10K gross profit auto-triggers a live review. The catch: 50/50 split below $4,000 net profit.
Best same-day payout access: Take Profit Trader. Day one, daily, no caps. The catch: intraday trailing on PRO is the number-one complaint, plus the $2,000 buffer.
Best for cheap discounted accounts and running multiple accounts: Apex. Stated in the same breath: a 6-payout hard cap then the account closes, a lifetime Safety Net buffer, and 5–11 business day payout processing.
Solid EOD-everywhere subscription: Alpha Futures. 90/10 from the start. It lost NinjaTrader, Tradovate, and TradingView on July 12, 2026.
Weakest of the nine tracked: Elite Trader Funding, 56/100. A $25,000 lifetime sim payout cap and a 3.8 Trustpilot with 24% one-star reviews.
Whatever you buy, price the drawdown, not the label, and read the funded-stage rules before paying for the eval — that is where accounts actually die. If you are still deciding whether any of this beats trading your own $2,000, we ran that math too: are prop firms worth it?
QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Frequently asked questions
What is the best futures prop firm in 2026?
Topstep is the best futures prop firm overall as of August 18, 2026. It pays out instantly (9-second average via Aeropay), operates a genuine sim-to-live path through Topstep Brokerage LLC, and publishes its own pass rates. Its ~3.6 Trustpilot is the lowest of the major firms and its payout paths take reading, but no competitor matches its combination of operating history and payout mechanics.
Which futures prop firm has the fastest payouts?
Topstep has the fastest disbursement: instant payouts average 9 seconds for eligible US traders, with a self-reported 99.26% approval rate. Take Profit Trader has the fastest access: funded PRO traders can withdraw from day one, daily, with no caps. My Funded Futures Rapid allows a payout request every 24 hours. Note that speed claims describe disbursement after approval; eligibility rules still gate how often you can request.
Do futures prop firms pay real money?
Yes, the payouts are real money, but on simulated funded accounts they are paid by the firm itself, not by market counterparties, because nearly all funded accounts are sim. Topstep reports $1.4B+ paid all time as of August 18, 2026, and Lucid Trading has $463M independently verified by MondoTraders. A handful of firms route top performers to genuine live accounts, but those paths are narrow.
What is the cheapest futures prop firm?
Apex Trader Funding is the cheapest per attempt: standing 90% codes cut its $550 one-time 50K eval to about $55 as of August 2026. Elite Trader Funding's ~$41 first month looks cheaper but renews at $207/mo plus activation fees. On a one-time basis, Tradeify (~$87 with codes) and Lucid Trading (~$90) cost slightly more but carry far friendlier funded-stage rules.
Which futures prop firm is easiest to pass?
By published numbers, Take Profit Trader (36.22% of Trading Tests passed in 2025) and TradeDay (36% pass rate, January–June 2026) disclose the highest pass rates. Topstep reported 16.8% of 2025 Trading Combines completed. But passing is not the goal: Topstep's own funnel shows only about a third of funded traders ever received a payout, so judge firms on funded-stage rules, not eval difficulty.
How much money is a $50K prop firm account really?
It is a $2,000 account with $50,000 of buying power. Every 50K evaluation across all nine major futures prop firms carries a $2,000 maximum trailing drawdown, so $2,000 is the real risk capital; the advertised size only sets margin and position limits. That is why drawdown mechanics — end-of-day locked versus intraday trailing — matter more than the account size on the label.
Which prop firm has the best profit split?
Apex and Elite Trader Funding advertise 100% splits, but both are capped: Apex closes accounts after 6 payouts and ETF stops sim payouts at a $25,000 lifetime cap. Among uncapped structures, 90/10 from the first payout is the practical best, offered by Topstep, Lucid Trading, My Funded Futures Rapid, Tradeify, and Alpha Futures. TradeDay's funded sim starts at 50/50 below $4,000 net profit.
Are futures prop firms regulated?
Mostly no. Futures prop firms are largely unregistered; they position themselves as education and simulation businesses, though the contracts they simulate are real CFTC-regulated futures. That is changing: the CFTC opened a public consultation on futures-prop oversight with comments closing November 30, 2026, and NFA Notice I-26-12 makes affiliate disclosures mandatory December 1, 2026. Topstep runs a registered entity, Topstep Brokerage LLC (NFA ID 0567079), for its live accounts.
